Introducing the new Cartier Sydney Flagship boutique

Now open, where the city meets the sea, Cartier will find a new home in Sydney.
The new Flagship boutique embodies Parisian elegance, while paying tribute to Australia’s rich culture and natural beauty, and demonstrating the savoir-faire Cartier is renowned for around the world.

Cartier in Australia:
A Century of Connection

The Maison's connection with Australia began in 1901 with renowned international opera singer Dame Nellie Melba. An empowered woman who forged her own path, Dame Melba was bold with her love for Cartier, which she shared on and off stage.

Cartier has also long found inspiration in Australian flora and fauna. In 1905, Cartier created a twin pair of kangaroos, one grey agate and one nephrite, set with rose-cut diamonds. Meanwhile, circa 1930 at Cartier, kangaroos began to appear as inspiration in a reference book used by Cartier designers.

Forty-five years later, in 1975, the first Sydney boutique opened its doors: Le Must de Cartier at David Jones.

The Maison continues to highlight the wonders of Australia's natural beauty with creations such as the bespoke Koala brooch in 2000 for the Sydney Olympic Games.

After opening boutiques in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane across the last decade, the Flagship Boutique marks an exciting new chapter in the connection between Cartier and the Australian community.

An Ode to French Style and Australian Essence

The new Flagship space is undeniably Cartier in tone, while remaining deeply rooted in local culture.

The golden mesh facade is inspired by the undulations of Sydney Harbour and the rolling waves of Bondi beach, giving the effect of a glistening gemstone in the heart of the city. The vibrant colours and patterns seen throughout are reminiscent of Australia's vast landscapes and unique flora and fauna.

The Maison has collaborated with local Australian and European artisans to breathe new life into the world of Cartier Oceania. The boutique’s design is a true celebration of the Maison's new home, of the diversity of its environments, communities and cultures.

Welcome to our new home at 388 George Street

Entering the universe of Cartier means an encounter with conviviality and curiosity. Here is a place to gather and be immersed into the magnificent creations, heritage and savoir-faire of the Maison. In the Sydney Flagship these values are realised within the inviting private rooms and the opal-inspired bar space on the first floor, which both encourage the dual pleasures of lingering and exploration.

We invite you to discover the world of Cartier in Sydney.

The Cartier boutique located at 74 Castlereagh St is now closed.
